The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is known for its fantastic and catchy soundtrack. In 2017 the long awaited sequel hit the big screens. Peter Quill, his friends and his mixed tapes are still fighting to save the galaxy. These are the 10 best songs from Guardians of the Galaxy 2! * This article may contain spoilers*
#10. Sam Cooke – Bring It On Home To Me
Turns out that Gamora is in fact a dancer! But hey, who doesn’t like Sam Cooke?
#9. Silver – Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang
‘Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang’ was the only song from the American band Silver that reached the charts in the US.
#8. Fleetwood Mac – The Chain
During ‘The Chain’ Yondu tells Peter to think with his heart and not his head during the super powered fight between Ego and Peter.
#7. Glen Campbell – Southern Nights
The lyrics were inspired by Allen Toussaint’s childhood memories of visiting relatives that lived in the woods of Louisiana, where his family members would tell stories under the star-filled night skies.
#6. Cheap Trick – Surrender
You might know this song from Guitar Hero 2, but you can also hear it during the end credits!
#5. The Sneepers – Guardians Inferno (feat. David Hasselhoff)
Are you one of those people who leave when the end credits start to roll? Such a shame, because you have missed another scene with David Hasselhoff and this diamond of a song! Luckily for you, they included this music video on the DVD of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2. What a sight for sore eyes!
#4. George Harrison – My Sweet Lord
‘My Sweet Lord’ was Harrison’s first solo song after The Beatles. It went straight to no. 1 in both the UK and the US and became the best-selling single of 1971.
#3. Looking Glass – Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl)
Missouri, 1980. The movie opens with this song and you can hear it when Ego tries to cheer Peter up when he’s moping.
#2. Electric Light Orchestra – Mr. Blue Sky
Just like ‘Come and Get Your Love’ in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 1, the dance opening scene (can’t have a Guardian’s movie without one) contains a very catchy song. Baby Groot shows off his dance moves, while the other Guardians engage in a massive battle.
#1. Cat Stevens – Father and Son
Yondu (aka Mary Poppins, because he IS a cool dude) dies in this heartbreaking scene, where he sacrifices himself to save Peter Quill. ‘Father and Son’ is played when the Guardians say goodbye to Peter’s surrogate father.
