Elvis Presley was an American singer and actor, often known as The King Of Rock And Roll. Elvis Presley was a master of rock and roll, as well as he was of country, rhythm and blues and pop music. In short; his musical influence was enormous. Therefore he has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame, such as Rock and Roll, Rockabilly, Country, Blues, Gospel and R&B Music Hall Of Fame.

The Beginning

When he was 19 years old, Elvis Presley started his music career at the famous Sun Records studio. ‘That’s Allright’ was his first single that hit the charts. After signing with RCA records, several tv appearances, movies and music, he released ‘Jailhouse Rock‘, one of his biggest hits. Elvis Presley always combined his music career with his acting career, although most people know The King because of his great music. His big breakthrough was ‘Blue Suede Shoes‘ (1956), a song written by Carl Perkins. Watch the footage of ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ below and enjoy his voice, performance and iconic dances.

1973- Death

Elvis Presley struggled with drugs and health deterioration. He took way too much medicine and in 1973 he overdosed twice and ended in a coma. Despite his failing health and condition, Elvis kept performing and took on an intensive touring schedule. His health soon deteriorated and he gained a lot of weight. His drug use exacerbated his conditions. On August 16 1977, his girlfriend Ginger Alden found Elvis death on his bathroom floor. He died of heart failure.

His death was a big shock to the world. Two days after his death his funeral was held at Graceland. Graceland was the mansion of Elvis in Memphis. Elvis was buried in Graceland’s Meditation Garden. Graceland was opened to the public in 1982. These days, still thousands of fans travel to Graceland to prove the latest honor to their hero. Attracting over half a million visitors annually, it is the second most-visited home in the US, after the White House.
