The music festival season is about to begin. Thomas Wesley Pentz, aka producing genius Diplo, has promised to set fire to festivals all over the world and to blow the audience away with his pumping beats and swinging vibes. We all know his Major Lazer hits ‘Get Free’ and ‘Lean On’, but you should never limit Diplo’s skills to these two songs. Discover one of the world’s most exciting DJ’s while enjoying your cup of coffee.
Diplo’s career as a DJ goes all the way back to his time as a student, when he started organizing parties together with his friend DJ Low Budget. The parties where a huge success and allowed the two to start releasing mix tapes that quickly drew the attention of the American music scene. Diplo dropped his debut album Florida shortly after that and that got him the attention of renowned artists like M.I.A. and Busta Rhymes. Diplo became a quickly rising star.
II. Mad Decent
As already mentioned, M.I.A. got interested when hearing one of Diplo’s DJ-sets and hearing him play two of her songs when she entered. Together they produced the timeless song ‘Paper Planes’, which was a huge success for both of them and even allowed Diplo to start his own record company Mad Decent. The label features all types of artists, like Santigold, Baauer and Vybz Kartel.
III. Major Lazer
2010 meant the beginning of a whole new project for Diplo, when he started collaborating with Switch and formed Major Lazer, the go-to team to start one hell of a party. After releasing an EP, Switch left the project and Diplo was joined by Jillionaire and Walshy Fire. Together they made the Free The Universealbum that featured huge hit songs like ‘Watch Out For This (Bumayé)’, ‘Bubble But’ and ‘Get Free’, defining the sound of everyone’s summer in 2013.
IV. Jack Ü
Together with Diplo, another American DJ had been dominating the sound of electronic music towards the end of the 00’s. The excitement was big when this man, also known as Skrillex, started collaborating with Diplo to form Jack Ü. Jack Ü was a huge dance project that resulted in a banging record that featured guests like Justin Bieber, Keisza and even Missy Elliott. The combination of both DJ’s own work together with their combined record allowed them to build an incredible live reputation.
Nothing’s ever certain, but chances are high that Diplo is going to dominate yet another summer. With lots of gigs coming up and his newly released California EP, Diplo has shown that he’s ready to take over dance floors all over the world again. Don’t hesitate to go on and join him!Coffee Break
