This legendary concert venue lies on top of the hill of Slane, Ireland. Foo Fighters, U2, Robbie Williams and Madonna have all headlined the legendary Slane Castle Concert and it's a very special place for music lovers. Discover Slane Castle!

History

Slane Castle lies about 50 kilometres north of Dublin, Ireland and is owned by the Scottish Conyngham family since 1701. The Conynghams renovated the castle in 1785 and it hasn't changed ever since. Mountcharles Conyngham is now the owner of the historic building.
A fire caused a lot of damage to the castle in 1991 and it took nearly 10 years to repair the whole building. Since 2017 the castle houses a whiskey distillery as well.

Rock bands only, please...

Lord Henry Mountcharles revealed that only rock bands are allowed to play on his grounds. So-called "manufactured bands", like Westlife and Take That, are certainly not welcome.

The Irish rock band U2 has a very special bond with Slane Castle. U2's the only band that has played three times at the castle. They recorded a part of their album The Unforgettable Fire in Slane Castle, but the albumcover contains a picture of Moydrum Castle and not Slane Castle. The video of 'Pride (In The Name Of Love)' and their DVD 'U2 Go Home' have also been recorded at the old castle.
