Coffee BreakJasper Erkens: Belgian Three-In-One

When you win the most important Belgian prize for young talent at the age of 15 and Adele encourages you to audition for the BRIT School (London), you know something's going on. Grab a coffee and discover all-round talent Jasper Erkens!

I. First steps on stage: Jasper Erkens

At the age of 15, Jasper Erkens entered Humo's Rock Rally 2008. The Rock Rally is Belgium's most famous contest for young bands. He won the audience prize and ended up in second place. This achievement earned him a spot on festivals like Rock Werchter and an invitation from Adele to be her support act.

II. From Belgium To London: Altrego

Upon recommendation of Adele, Erkens auditions at the famous BRIT School in London. He gets in, which is a first for a non-Brit. After a couple of years of studying, Erkens graduates with honours. He can add himself to the impressive list of alumni of the BRIT School: Adele, Ella Eyre, Jamie Woon, Amy Winehouse, The Kooks... In the mean time, his sound has turned 180°: it's hard to recognise the 15-year-old in his new electronic project Altrego.

III. Back To Jasper Erkens

After touring with Altrego, Erkens decides to move from London to Amsterdam. He signs with Universal Music and starts recording a new album. He rediscovers his passion for pop music and (partially) leaves Altrego's sound. This has influenced his choice of producer for the record. He worked with Jim Elliot who is known from productions of Kylie Minogue and Ellie Goulding. After 3 very different music projects, we can't wait to see what the future brings!
