Editors are touring Europe again! Their new album ‘Violence’ is getting great reviews all over Europe so we are very much looking forward to these upcoming Editors shows. And there’s a lot of them coming! In this ‘Spoiler Alert’ we take a look at what to expect from their Violence Tour shows.

Setlist

https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/editors/2018/palladium-cologne-germany-4bef0f56.htmlViolence is Editors’ sixth album and also the biggest supplier of their current setlist. With 8 out of 22 tracks, almost a third of the show consists of new material. But that’s not a problem, as Violence receives really good critics all over Europe. NME already called it ‘the album that brings Editors back home’. The Guardian said: ‘An unexpected carreer peek’ and Dutch magazine OOR even called it their best material since An End Has A Start (2017).Luckily, also fan favorites from the other albums are widely present. You can certainly count on performances of ‘Munich’ (from debut album The Back Room), ‘A Ton Of Love’ (from fourth recordThe Weight Of Your Love) and ‘Papillon’ (from the electronic third album In This Light And On This Evening). A setback for many fans will be that currently ‘Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors’ is not being played, although it being one of their most popular tracks.Another thing to notice is that ‘Marching Orders’ apparently is now the definitive set closer, ditching ‘Papillon’ to the second-last position.

Stage

https://www.instagram.com/p/BgwYvIInJ4B/?tagged=editorsEditors is playing for an impressive steel construction, really emphasizing the industrial sound of the new album. Lightning is attached all over the cubes and when it is all used at once, that gives an amazing lighting show. Check out how that looks during title track ‘Violence’!

Show

Editors is now officially a Big Band. That being said, they behave as a Big Band. The older more rough tracks are being played in a new upbeat way. For example, the newly added electronic drum beat in ‘Papillon’ really gives that track even more energy. And of course there’s room for some spectacle. During the bigger shows, fireworks are being lit already during opening tack ‘Hallelujah (So Low)’.

During ‘The Racing Rats’, there’s even a big waterfall of fireworks!https://www.instagram.com/p/Bghcjo5BJfQ/?tagged=editorsDuring ‘No Sound But The Wind’, there’s no need for a light show, as the venue itself turns into a big one because of people turning on their camera flashlights. That image was so beautiful that during their Antwerp performance, Tom Smith became emotional and had to restart the song.https://twitter.com/bjorn_1978/status/975166435810004992Ultimately, if you’re a person hungry for Instagram pics, make sure to stay on high alert during ‘Marching Orders’. Fireworks, confetti and streamers are everywhere! (Of course, you can also just keep that phone in your pocket and enjoy the show ;-))https://www.instagram.com/p/BgfWfIrj4Pa/?tagged=editors
