The Rolling Stones kicked off the No Filter Tour in Hamburg, Germany, last Saturday. The Stones will play thirteen shows across Europe. Let’s take a look at the setlist, stage and performance by the legendary British rock band.
Not many surprises here. The Rolling Stones will play classics like ‘Tumbling Dice’, ‘Sympathy For The Devil’, ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ and ‘Miss You’. But they did pull out some rarities for the tour opener: ‘Dancing With Mr. D’, which was last played on Oct. 19, 1973 and ‘Play With Fire’ (Feb. 23, 1990).
Just like their last tour in 2014, Stones fans can vote on which song they want to hear The Rolling Stones perform. Hamburg voted for ‘Under My Thumb’.
The Rolling Stones are known for their state of the art stage design, including big screens, light shows and of course fireworks. The stage for the No Filter Tour contains four pillar style video walls. The video walls mostly project The Stones playing, so nothing too special’s going on with video effects and graphics. One thing is missing from the stage: a catwalk. So don’t expect Mick Jagger dancing the length of the catwalk.
Well, they are a little older now, so it doesn’t sound as it used to in the 70s. Much of the ‘tough’ vocal work is done by the backing vocalists. But it’s still a great band to see live. You don’t want to miss Keith Richards and Ron Wood playing guitar, or the poker-faced stoic drummer Charlie Watts and the flamboyant Mick Jagger.
(Premium) Tickets are still available for all the remaining shows in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, The Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and France via http://www.rollingstones.com/tickets/. We wonder why…
